cuerpo_const.
Assamblage, photography project
Cuerpo_const. is a long-term project that investigates the construction of the transhumanist and/or posthumanist body from the perspective of existing bodily transitions, class, and the capitalist consequences on bodies. Starting from works such as Transsición? and Human Nature, the theory revolves around contemporary awareness of identity and proposes an operation of bodily deconstruction through the use of prosthetics and biotechnologies. By grouping the different proposals, these reveal an intimate character, in which new technologies intersect with precarious materials, building a narrative around the trans (-gender and -human) experience. This ultimately recreates a circumstantial image of the body in a constant process of decomposition, reconstruction, and deformation, plunging it into an artificial, simulated nature that, in turn, demonstrates that there is no greater truth than fiction. The life and creative process itself is proposed as theory, while theory is performed, generating layers of meaning that traverse bodies, materials, and situations, moving from the pornographic and fetishistic to the intimacy of the home. Some of these works are part of my Undergraduate Thesis: Transsición?, and my Master’s Thesis: Cadaveres y Espacios. Thoughts around violences, transit, inhabiting and the uprising of identitary disidents.
